Song Dong: Waste Not

I went to The Barbican not expecting to find anything amazing but instead I found this amazing exhibition by Song Dong. His father died many years ago and when that happens his mother went into a deep depression and could not throw anything away, a multi-year project survived with a mountain of seemingly meaningless objects, however they are a symbol of his mothers mental illness. After reading the introduction the exhibition is both incredibly sad and interesting, and a really great one to watch. I did not take that many photographs but mine are here:

There are more photographs on the barbican website, the one I found the most inspiring is below but the link to the rest of the photographs is just below, they are very good, but just document the entire piece, and I did not find all of them inspirational so I have only included the one that is most strongly inspirational here in The Archives;

Clash Magazine

I purchased a past issue of Clash Magazine purely for the cover and some amazing editorials, the front page  is here :

This incorporates the Song Dong exhibition and my Mad Man character very well, it used what would be unused and past to create a piece of cover art, there is a couple of artists that have done this which I have done before for secondary school, but I do not have the sketchbooks in London to check and also I do not know how much help it would be to reference someone whom has done the exact same thing as here, it would not give me any more inspiration as I already know the images and it is only the same thing.

I used this for a reference for a couple of pieces in my sketchbook.

Simon Armstrong

The Swedish School of Textiles showed at London Fashion Week, and it was probably one of the best collections I have seen in a long time, very varied and creative, but the designer who stuck out to me was Simon Armstrong, a truly amazing link for my project, especially for The Narrator for the music video. I discovered him whilst on Styleeast, and I could not help but look into one piece further, I found the full outfit on the Vogue website, with the full collection, and here is the outfit that has inspired me so much:
